Secure Summer EBT Benefits for Your Students!

09.13.2024

New York State is launching Summer EBT, a returning program that provides low-income families with benefits to help cover their food costs during the summer school break. During the summer, many children lose access to free meals and the Office of Temporary Disability (OTDA) is addressing this deficit.

Families with eligible school-age children will receive $120 in Summer EBT food benefits per child.

Many Medicaid, SNAP and temporary assistance recipients may be automatically eligible; but others must apply before the June 28, 2024 deadline.

NYSED is collaborating with the OTDA to ensure that all religious and independent schools participating in the NSLP can report the necessary student and parent information. Only NSLP-approved schools are eligible to complete this form.

It is crucial that schools submit the “Summer 2024 EBT for Religious and Independent NSLP Approved Schools – ONLY 2023-24 Form” through the IRS Data Exchange (IDEx) on the NYSED Application Business before June 28, 2024, or their students will not be eligible to receive Summer EBT benefits.

For detailed instructions on accessing and completing the form, please see the IDEx Guidelines here.
